    SEO Services for Happy Brands

The above seo diagram is the result of late night doodling on PowerPoint and though it was made with no specific plan in mind, I thought it would be interesting to look at this diagram once again and share it with you all.

So let explore the seo services in step by step detail…and how each one affects your online business as a whole.

Level 1 – Honey Pancakes for Breakfast

Let’s start with keyword research and discovery. This is the foundation step for your online business. Keywords are what prospective customers will type in the search box to reach your website, products and services. Identifying the right keywords that your potential customers will use to reach your site, the competition for those keywords, and how often those keywords have been used in past searches is important for success.

The competition has heated up! Knowing what your competition is up to is crucial in the world of business, whether in the real world or online. Tracking the competition for your keywords and identifying their seo strategies will provide valuable inputs in creating your own long term seo strategy.

Once you have identified the winning keywords, the next step is to optimize your web pages around those keywords. It’s important to focus each page around one keyword only and then placing those keywords strategically in the Meta tags like title, description, heading tags, link text and the body content of that page.
Make sure the title and description for each page is captivating enough for potential customers to click through. The title is what the potential customers see on the search results page.
In case you are using dynamic pages (database driven or CMS) on your website, you have two options. One is to optimize your database (this could be time consuming and costly), and the second is to work your way around and create a separate section called articles/ resources/blog posts/ How to etc with static pages (HTML) pages focused around the keywords you want to target.
Users and search engines will love you if you offer unique, informative and resourceful content that’s updated regularly. Each page of your website is a doorway to your products and services, so planning the content around your keywords is strongly advised.
Seo content is well written content that pleases the users and the search engines, is rich in keywords, and attempts to answer the query or need of the user who typed that particular keyword. Once your content is all optimized, you are all set to start building links.
Search engines value websites that have many inbound links from credible and high page ranked websites. The reason is that if a credible and popular web site or a web community has linked to your website, the search engines feel you must be worthy of that link.
Link building has gained lots of negativity with link farms and link exchange programs that ask for nothing but an exchange of links for the purpose of tricking the search engines and users. This was more prominent in the past, yet I often get reciprocal linking offers in my mailbox. It’s a waste of time so don’t even bother going there.
The link building matrix is the ideal mix of websites and communities from where you want to get those links. You can use web directory submissions, article submissions, social bookmarking and networking, video submission, PR announce, vertical search engine submissions, blog reviews etc to create the perfect link matrix for your website.
Keep in mind quality of content, page rank and diversity of the sources of your links is important, and so is getting links from websites that are related to your content.
Level 2 – Ahoy Mates, Full Steam Ahead
You have identified winning keywords, optimized your web pages, edited your content to make it seo friendly, and have started building quality and diverse links to your website. If you have done this part correctly then your keywords should start getting ranked, but they are still not in the Page 1 of the search results which is your goal. So how does one push your rankings up the search ladder?
Blogging is a great way to add fresh content, build a readership, and create quality links to your website. Some of my keywords placed in blog posts rank better than pages that I have optimized personally. You can start a business blog, or start a topic specific blog based on your important keywords.
Once you are committed to posting regularly on the blog, it’s time to start promoting your blog to various blog directories, blog search engines, RSS feed syndicates etc.
Now it’s time to syndicate your content for maximum visibility and back links. Article submissions are a great way to build credibility as an expert in your domain, build a readers base and get high quality links without the search engines treating that content as duplicate content.
Launching as new product, or a great new service, it’s time to announce it to the world. Using specific PR submission sites will get you additional viewership, links and your news could always be picked up by some journalist.
Think global. Go local. You obviously want to get business from all over the world, but who can ignore the local markets. In the same way though you may be targeting global keywords, don’t forget to focus on the local keywords as well. Submitting your site to local directories, Google Maps, Yahoo local etc will get you found on the local listings.
Spread your wings with social bookmarking sites like stumble upon, delicious, dig, drop jack etc. Social bookmarking gives the users power to decide what they like, what news is important, and what’s not. But (as in Spiderman Movie) with great power comes great responsibility. You have the responsibility to create news that’s news worthy, and then you will get the links that’s ranking worthy.
Level 3 – Supercharge your Rankings
You have done well to have come so far. You have optimized your site, have become adept at building quality content and links, using blogs, article submissions, pr announce and social bookmarking to reach out, and have gotten connected to the local scene. Your keywords should be ranking well now, but you still want to increase the traffic coming to your website and blog.
Create a page on Wikipedia, or participate in Yahoo Groups, Yahoo Answers and other such specialized communities where you can create value for the users while gaining high powered links and reaching new communities of users.
Had enough of content creation and link building? It’s time to go visual by submitting videos to video content sites like YouTube. You can submit any kind of videos that would attract your target audience and link those videos back to your website and blog.
Build a network by creating your space on social networking sites like Face Book, Twitter etc. As they say that friends go a long way in spreading word of mouth.
Level 4 – Appease the Search Gods
Other than well optimized pages, the search engine are looking at fresh content that’s informative, unique and resourceful and quality links from high page rank, credible, popular and related websites and web communities.
If you have followed the advice so far, the search engine gods will be happy with you.
Level 5 – Show them the Money
If you have big bucks, Google Adwords and pay per click (PPC) campaigns are a great way to make an announcement. Why wait for traffic to be earned when you can buy it so to speak! But for those people, this is not the right article.
Level 6 – Your online business
If you have done your job well, you will have happy users who find a service/ product/ information they need, happy search engines and a very happy Brand (You).
All this will make this SEO expert rather HAPPY!
  • Create New Gateways to Targeted Traffic

Date: 2008.10.08 | Category: gateway pages, information pages, seo expert india, seo expert mumbai, seo services mumbai | Response: 0

You have done well with the top 2 to 3 keywords of your website and they are listed in top 3 in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, but you are just not getting anywhere with those other elusive keywords that could be driving traffic to your website.

If the above scenario sounds familiar, then you are part of thousands of other website owners who feel they are not being able to target and rank for those additional keywords they found after much hard work and analysis.

Now we all know that finding the right keywords is not an easy job. Even a SEO expert will agree to that. It takes a considerable amount of investment in time and skill to identify winning keywords using various keyword analysis tools, and in analyzing user preferences and the competition.

I can imagine the frustration when all that hard work sees no payoff.

The main reason this problem occurs is that search engines prefer that the pages are optimized around just one or two keywords, and those keywords appear in your title, description, other relevant META tags including the body content.

So if your website has 10 pages, then ideally only 10 to 12 keywords should be targeted. Then what happens to the other 20 keywords you found that have the potential to drive that extra traffic to your website.

The solution to the above problem can be found in creating Gateway Pages or Information Pages.

A gateway page is a highly focused page created around a specific keyword you want to target for search engine listings. So the additional keyword that found no space in your existing website’s structure (and in the search engines indexes) can now be targeted using gateway pages.

These highly focused pages act like additional entry points to your website. Each page represents a keyword or a keyword phrase you want to target, and each keyword targeted, means additional traffic to your website.

The best part is you can create as many number of gateway pages without redesigning your website.

Gateway pages are content rich pages and are useful for the users, as well as search engines. The user love information rich pages that solve their problem/need, and search engines love nicely optimized focused pages that can satisfy the users query for that keyword.

So is there anything magical about gateway pages? No, they are the same like any other normal page you would optimize for your website.

You would follow the same SEO principles one applies while working with normal pages which includes:

    1. Focus the page around 1 keyword or keyword phrase only.

    2. Focus the page around a topic/theme.

    3. Ensure that the page name, title, Meta tags, and body content are written around that keyword.

    4. Gateway pages can be scaled down versions of your existing design interface (the focus is on the content) so they load faster and can rank far better than heavily designed pages).

    5. Write content that appeals to the user and not the search engines.

    6. Write around 400 to 600 words of body content around that topic.

    7. Use headings and sub headings to layout your content, and use the keyword in the heading tags like H1, H2.

    8. Use the keyword (check keyword weight) in the body content.

    9. The first 25 words of your body content should be keyword rich, and then evenly distribute the keyword in the remaining body content. Make sure it reads well.

    10. Build links from your gateway pages to your website and from your site to gateway pages.

    11. Link to other pages in your website that are related in content.

    12. Link to other popular sites with similar content that could add value to your readers.

    13. Get links from popular and related sites to your gateway pages.

    14. Include gateway pages in your sitemap.

    15. Gateway pages can be linked to sections like articles, resources & tips, how-to etc.

    16. Your gateway pages can also be submitted to article submission sites without your article being treated like duplicate content by search engines.

    17. Add one new page of content to your website each week i.e. One new keyword targeted each week.

Your gateway pages are an ideal way to target new keywords, and at the same time giving fresh and useful content to your users and search engines.

At the end of the day what is it that people want to know? Are your potential customers looking for how-to articles, reference material, comparison charts, interviews, financial or technical advice, contact numbers, FAQ’s, tips and tricks, location maps etc?

Some cautions while creating gateway pages

    1. Don’t create information pages with the same or just rehashed content as on your website or worse from a website off the internet.

    2. Don’t create copies of your index page and use them as information pages.

So you now have the secret to targetting additional keywords – by creating content rich pages and optimizing your Meta tags around that keyword.

  • Get Your New Blog Noticed (Part 2)

Date: 2008.10.01 | Category: blog marketing, Get Your New Blog Noticed, mumbai seo expert, new blog promotion, seo expert india, seo expert mumbai, seo services mumbai | Response: 2

In my previous posts, I have covered Why Search Engines Love Blogs! And So Should You, and highlighted that search engines do love blogs and bloggers.

Also for those who need a little inspiration on starting your first blog, do read about My Love and Hate Relationship with Blogging which also explores the synergy between blogs, search engines, rankings and keywords.

This article is for those few brave souls, who have just initiated their journey into blogging, and need that amazing high one gets when your blog is finally getting read by a substantial number of readers, please read Get your New Blog Noticed (Part 1) of this article first.

As promised, and a seo expert always keeps his promise, here are some of the strategies that have worked for me:

    Deep-Linking

As a SEO expert in Mumbai, I often advise new clients to start a corporate blog for their employees, customer, vendors, associates and investors. The benefits of doing so are many, as seen in the trend where many corporate blogs are doing very well in building brand loyalty, customer loyalty and driving business through existing customers.

I also advise my clients to start a topic specific blog of their expertise. To give you an example of this, my corporate website is www.seo-optimization-experts.com, so I started a blog Zen of SEO, which tells the truth about SEO based on actual experiences and mistakes I made during my journey. My SEO blog attracts marketing professionals, seo students, Internet marketing professionals, readers and businessman like you.

Now comes the easy part; Create relevant deep links between your corporate website pages, corporate blog posts and topic blog posts. Your website, corporate blog and topic blog are treated as separate sites as far as search engines go, so don’t hesitate to use you’re your content for link building purposes.

Each blog post is a potential to build another link to your corporate website. But don’t overdo it. I don’t think the search engines would penalize a site for too many links (unless the site is just a whole bunch of links for the pure purposes of link farming, and trying to trick the search engines to give irrelevant results), but it could a big turn off for your readers who just want to enjoy the story and don’t care much about your hair brained strategies to dominate the internet.

    Cross-Linking

It’s easy to create links when you are the master of your website and blogs, but how do we get other websites/ blogs to give the same quality links back to your blog.

As in the real world if you have to build a new contact, you would approach that person, introduce yourself, inform that person of the value you offer, and maintain a good relation with that person.

In the blog world building links is no different.

    1. Approach websites that has content/target audience similar to your blogs and offer some additional value to their readers, or even better write a good intelligent review about some service/products that website is offering. Send a nice email highlighting the same with a link back to your blog post. Online marketers like collecting testimonials so there is great probability that they will link back to your blog.

    2. Approach other bloggers who command high loyalty. Most of the time if you have a professional approach, a good pitch and a value proposition, most bloggers will not mind writing a small review and linking to your blog. After all the bloggers need to create content daily, so offer then a helping hand. Many bloggers advocate semi-advertising in their posts, and bloggers define their tastes, preferences, likes and dislikes about brands all the time. So why not get onto the bandwagon.

Another way is to leave intelligent comment on the bloggers post with something nice to say about the blogger, and then give a small link to your blog to explain in detail. Most times the blogger will leave a good comment and not delete it. I don’t personally use this method, but as they say, in this matter, flattery may get you what you want.

    3. Some SEO experts and bloggers have good relations with other fellow bloggers. A good seo expert should be able to get some of these bloggers to write a good review and link to your blog/ website. It will drive traffic to your website and add to your link building campaign.

    Create a RSS Feed

Most blog software’s like Blogger allow users to create an automatic RSS feed Eg. http://www.seo-optimization-experts.com/atom.xml is the feed for my blog. If you notice it’s a very simple page, no major formatting, no pictures and videos.

RSS also knows as “Real Simple Syndication” is a mechanism used to distribute content without depending on the browser or email client. Users subscribe to RSS feeds to get latest updates (headlines with a small brief) about their favorite websites/ blogs across the internet in one place.

In your case, your blog posts form part of content that can be syndicated across news/content feeds. Once your RSS feed is published, you can submit the feed to many of the feed aggregators and have your content/ blog post distributed across their network of users. You can start by using this link http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.htm to submit your blog to many feeds.

    Submit to Article Sites

I have covered article writing in my previous posts, SEO Guide to Article Writing, where I have explained in detail on why to submit to article sites. Article sites are a great way for distributing your content to many sites without the fear of landing into soup for duplicate content. In addition you are building credibility as an expert in your domain, quality links, and driving traffic to your blog.

By submitting your blog posts to article submission sites having high page rank, you are basically syndicating the same content across various channels, getting links, and traffic. Now that’s a good deal!

A note of warning, don’t just submit your article to 1000 sites, rather be wise and work with a few key article sites. In this way it’s easy to build a good relationship with those sites and their audiences, as they feel that you have not plastered your article across every living website in the world.

Also its easy to keep the momentum up, otherwise submitting each blog post to 1000 sites would be rather time consuming I would say.

    Go Social with your Blog

Social bookmarking is the next wave to hit the new media landscape. Millions of users surfing the internet now have a voice and can rate/bookmark and suggest websites, blogs and share their likes and dislikes with the billions of surfers.

Wikipedia describes social bookmarking as a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.

In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.

Register your blog with services like digg, reddit, del.icio.us and stumbleupon. Give your readers an opportunity to suggest/ bookmark/tag your blog post across the social media landscape and watch the traffic come in.

If you like this blog post, please suggest this post to the social bookmarking sites listed below the post. It will be highly appreciated.

    Make a Noise

Hey you have worked hard to get your blog started. Now is the time to announce it to the world, atleast the online world. Submit your blog to blogger search engines like Technorati, and other blogging directories on the net. As you submit your blog to the various directories out there, your blog is reaching out to newer audiences.

You can also submit your blog to PR sites which allow companies to submit press releases and announcements. It may not do much for your rankings, but many journalists are known to scan press release sites for a good story. Could it be you?

You can also announce your blog by putting it on your visiting card, in your email footer, on your corporate website, Facebook (profile, posts on wall, comments etc), Youtube profile, Linkedin profile, and finally the good ol’ word of mouth.

These should keep you busy for the next few months, and by then you will be raring to get into more advanced techniques of marketing and promoting your Blog.

But that my friend’s is another time, another story!
